Robby Ginepri and Benjamin Becker, the seventh and eighth seeds, were bundled out of the Indianapolis Championships at the first hurdle on Monday.
American Ginepri, who won the Indianapolis title in 2005 and reached the semifinals last year, was upset by 83rd-ranked Michael Berrer of Germany 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Eighth-seeded Becker of Germany, the only other seed in action on Monday, was also a casualty as he fell to Frank Dancevic of Canada 6-4, 6-3.
Sam Querrey, the world number 90, scored a 7-6, 6-1 first-round win over Frenchman Julien Benneteau. Russian teenager Evgeny Korolev beat American veteran Justin Gimelstob 6-2, 6-4 and book a place in the second round against top seed Andy Roddick.
Bhupathi-Hanley fall
Top seed Mahesh Bhupathi and Australian Paul Hanley were shocked by Americans Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish in the first round of doubles action, adds PTI. Bhupathi and his new doubles partner suffered a 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 8-10 loss after starting well in the opener on Monday.

At Umag in Croatia, Gilles Simon of France staged an upset on the first day of the Croatia Open ATP tournament on Monday by beating world number four Nikolay Davydenko of Russia 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
Top seed and world number three Novak Djokovic from Serbia had an easier passage to the second round, beating Spaniard Pablo Andujar 6-1, 6-3.
Two other Spaniards, Pere Riba and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo, managed to stay in the tournament by beating local youngster Luka Belic 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 and Gaston Gaudio of Argentina 6-0, 6-4 respectively.
Local hope Marin Cilic overcome Frenchman Mathieu Montcourt 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, while Argentine Carlos Berlocq beat his compatriot Maximo Gonzalez 6-3, 6-4. Cilic will meet Simon in the second round.
Peng advances
China's Peng Shuai eased into the second round of the Stanford Classic with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Russia's Elena Bovina on Monday, adds Reuters from Stanford.
Peng was joined in the last 16 by Slovenian seventh seed Katarina Srebotnik, the only ranked player in action on the opening day, who recorded a routine 6-3, 6-4 victory over Russia's Olga Poutchkova.
