Sujith Alwyn struck a brace, including the match-winner, as Leo Hockey Club registered a 5-4 victory over New Ashoka Hockey Club in the State ‘C’ Division hockey league at the KSHA stadium on Tuesday.
Prasanna opened the scoring for Leo with a second-minute goal. There was a lull before Terence equalised for Ashoka in the 16th minute.
In fact, Ashoka even took the lead in the 20th minute, thanks to a goal from Joseph. Leo’s Gibin Sequera made it 2-2 when he scored in the 28th minute.
Leo’s joy was short-lived as Santosh Vimal put Ashoka in the lead four minutes later. The twist in the tale continued with Bhanu netting the equaliser for Leo with a 40th minute goal. Leo moved ahead when Sujith was on target in the 43rd minute.
Ashoka’s Warner Williams got into the scoring act in the 45th minute. All of Ashoka’s efforts went in vain as Sujith’s 52nd-minute goal fetched Leo the win.
Earlier, Star Track HC did not turn up for their match against Sports Authority of India ‘D’.
