Car festival today
Madhugiri, dhns: The Brahmarathotsavas of Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy at the historical Doddadalavatta village and Sri Prasanna Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy of Kodigenahalli  in Madhugiri will take place today.
At the same time, Devaranga troupe from Bangalore will perform the parikramana at Doddadalavatta village, in which more than 150 persons will take part, stated a press release issued here.
‘No incident of untouchability’
Tumkur, dhns: The villagers of Sarthavalli have stoutly denied the claims of untouchability being practised amongst them. They made their views clear during a visit by Tahsildar A Ningaiah on Wednesday.
The village elders told the official that the media reports in this regard were baseless as the people of the entire village believed in peaceful co-existence. It may be mentioned here that two persons of the village had alleged untouchability recently.
The village elders told the tahsildar that each activity was shared amongst the villagers and the allegations followed some wrong information about the village. Later, official sources also confirmed that untouchability had not been practised.
Tapta Mudra    programme
Tumkur, dhns: The Tumkur Mitra Koota and Raghavendra Seva Samiti  have organised Tapta Mudra dharane programme on Thursday, according to Mitrakoota director T G Vedamurthy.
The programme will be held at the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Shettyhalli Main Road between 7.30 am and 3 pm.
The Mudra Dharane will be conducted by Raghumanya Teertha Swamiji of Bheemasetu Munivrunda Mutt, of Bheemanakatte in Theerthahalli.
Bhajans will also be conducted by the following associations during the occasion: Kodandarama Bhajana Mandali, Haripriya Bhajana Mandali, Nadabrahma Bhajana Mandali, Kanchana Brahma Bhajana Mandali, Srikar Bhajana Mandali, Anugraha Koota Bhajana Mandali, Shakti Mahila Sangha, Saptagiri Bhajana Mandali, Vagdevi Bhajana Mandali, Srinivasa Bhajana Mandali, Ubhayabharathi Shankara Seva Bhajana Mandali and Meghapushpa Bhajana Mandali. Interested are requested to participate in large numbers.
Saraswathi     Vandana
Turuvekere, dhns: Saraswathi Vandana, a free distribution programme of stationery to poor and meritorious students will be held at H P S School on July 27.
The programme is organised on behalf of the Rashtra Gourava Samrakshana Parishat, Bangalore. Headmaster Nagaiah will preside over the function. The State convenor of the Rashtra Gourava Samrakshana Parishat will be distributing the stationery items and will deliver lectures on Chandrashekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh. Dr A Nagaraj and former principal T L Nagaraj are the chief guests.
In a statement issued here, the convenor has stated that the programme is being held to commemmorate the 150th anniversary of the First War of Indian Independence in 1857 as well as birth centenaries of Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh and General K S Thimmaiah.
Cooperative body bags award
Tumkur,dhns: Gayatri Credit Cooperative Association has bagged the Best Cooperative Association Award, states a release by its president R N Satyanarayana.
The award will be presented on July 28 at the Cooperation Movement centenary celebrations to be held at Mysore, the release added.
