Poetry reading
Toto Funds the Arts will have a poetry reading session by Mukta Sambrani and Mani Rao at Crossword Bookstore, pm on July 27. Mukta Sambrani, who was born and raised in India where she taught English and worked as a journalist, moved to San Francisco University in 1999.
    Her first book of poems, ‘The woman in this poem isn't lonely’, was published by Writer's Workshop, Kolkata. She is the recipient of the 2003 Audre Lorde Creative Writing Award and was an honourable mention for the Starcherone Prize.
Mani Rao, the author of seven poetry books, has performed at literary festivals in Melbourne, Vancouver, Hong Kong, Singapore, Chicago and at the PEN World Voices 2006, New York. Also at the reading will be Jeet Thayil, editor of the anthology ‘Give the Sea Change and It Shall Change: Fifty-Six Indian Poets (1952-2005)’.
Free health check-up

Jetix action academy
Popular show Jetix will extend it’s action, thrill and comedy to over 600 schools across 20 cities in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka through the launch of Jetix Action Academy. It’s a school contact programme modelled on a mock military boot camp that will engage the kids in South India.                                          
Kids will be involved in a series of games designed around key shows such as Didi’s Comedy Show, Goosebumps, Martin Mystery, Monster Warriors and Power Rangers Mystic Force. The host will play a funny army sergeant to entertain kids during the action-packed on-ground initiative. Kids will also get an opportunity to win goodies and over 35000 prizes are up for grabs for the participants during the sessions.

Course in counselling
Banjara Academy is conducting a one year part-time diploma in counselling skills, open to people of all ages and from all walks of life.
