One visit to the Rashtrapathi Bhavan and you return with loads of good memories to last you a lifetime. The history and charm of the place remains etched in the mind for a long time.
There are many attractions at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. One among them is a flat TV screen that runs the latest news and the English translation of ‘Tirukural’ by Dr Kalam. There’s a Kiosk or a computer using which you can browse the entire Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The portraits of the former Rashtrapathis stares at you from all corners.
A museum in the upper floor houses invaluable presents, gifts, photos of memorable historical events and cutlery.
The latest edition is the children’s museum with invaluable gifts presented by kids from across the globe to Dr Kalam. If you choose to check your weight you will receive a printed photograph with information on weight and a bit on the world with words of wisdom printed on it.
I visited Rashtrapathi Bhavan recently. Visitors are first taken along the royal path towards Ashoka Hallw here one waits for the President to arrive. One is treated to crisp vadas and mouth watering pastries followed by coffee or tea or a soft drink. Then you’ll be led to meet the President.
Your name will be announced and soon you will find yourself seated with the President at one corner of the Mogul Garden. You instantly feel at ease in the company of Dr Kalam. He remembers all past acquaintances and the work involved. He will ask in his inimitable style ‘What’s happening?’ After a splendid time, the President will ask you if you want photos taken with him.
Soon, the official photographer comes in and you pose your best for a picture with Dr Kalam. You bid good bye to the President with a heavy heart and carry with you special moments spent with a great soul.
