Here is yet another chance to put Bangalore on the national map. The hunt for the golden voice is on at a fiery speed on various television channels. And one Bangalorean has surfaced on the top nine contestants for the reality show Indian Idol. Bangalore student Abhishek Kumar has made it to the Gala round after clearing three rounds.
Tough competition
After four months of intense search, the jury panel selected Abhishek among nine others from 25,000 participants who auditioned for the show.
Abhishek is a third year engineering student from MVIT college in Bangalore. Good at studies, Abhishek also claims to be a good dancer, a mime artist and is fond of playing cricket and table tennis.
While his favourite pastime is jugalbandi with his brothers Ashish and Shishir, he often loves to hang around on MG Road, Koramangala, Shivanasamudra and his college campus. A big fan of Sonu Nigam, he believes that he has the X factor to become the next Indian Idol.
Only one from down south
Abhishek is the only student among the top nine finalists from South India and Karnataka. The ultimate decision on who will become the next Indian Idol will be based on the votes cast by viewers.
The winner will receive a music album contract worth Rs one crore and a luxury car. Abhishek dons a black cap at all times to bring him luck during this show and Bangaloreans can add to his kitty of luck by casting votes for this talented singer.
