A senior executive of Satyam Computers, who was abducted for ransom, was on Wednesday set free by the kidnappers in Andhra Pradesh’s Warangal district.
V Satyanarayana (40), working as the General Manager of the company, was kidnapped when he was returning after dropping his children at a bus stop in Secunderabad on Tuesday.
Police arrested the executive’s driver Mohan and one more person identified as Kongara Daveed who provided shelter to the kidnappers at Warangal, Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh told reporters and claimed Satyanarayana was set free on Wednesday morning due to “increased police pressure.”
Mr Singh said police suspect a gang of pseudo naxalites to be behind the kidnapping.
During the course of investigation it was established that Satyanarayana’s driver Mohan had masterminded the kidnap with assistance of one Venkanna and others.
It was Mohan who informed Satyanarayana’s wife Kiranmayee that his master was missing. When Kiranmayee contacted on her husband’s cellphone he told his wife that he had been abducted by some unidentified persons.
Later, Kiranmayee lodged a complaint with the police.
Meanwhile, the kidnappers contacted Satyanarayana's wife and demanded Rs 20 lakh ransom.
Special police parties were sent to Warangal and due to continued police pressure, Satyanarayana was released safely by the kidnappers without payment of any ransom, the police commissioner said.
