The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission came into existence officially on Wednesday with its first Chairman, Justice S R Nayak, assuming charge at a formal function at Vidhana Soudha.
ET on non-Kannada movies challenged  
The petition by Lakshmi Chitra Mandira and five other cinema theatres challenged the provisions of Karnataka Entertainment Tax Act that stipulated 40 per cent ET on show of non-Kannada movies, while exempting Kannada movies from the same.
Lokayukta focus shifts to illegal mining  
The Karnataka Loka yukta is planning to study illegal mining in the State and submit a report to the government based on which the latter could formulate a new policy to check illegal mining.
