Engineering college in each dist, says minister
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy on Wednesday informed the Assembly that the State government intended to set up atleast one government engineering college in each district in the State.

Replying to a query by Mr Sindhoor Rajashekhar (Ind) during question hour, Mr Shankaramurthy said that until the present government sanctioned eight government engineering colleges, there were only two government engineering colleges of the total 127.

Of the eight engineering colleges sanctioned by the State government, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has already accorded it’s approval to four colleges. “We are expecting approval of four more colleges soon”, he added.

Replying to a query from Mohan P C (BJP), Mr Shankaramurthy said the government had on July 24, Tuesday issued an order regarding sanctioning of 63 more degree colleges. “With this the total number of degree colleges sanctioned this year has risen to 167”, he added.
