A meet has been arranged with the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to resolve the inconvenience caused by the strike of pourakarmikas on Thursday, said Minister for Municipal Administration Alangur Srinivas.
He was speaking to the Congress activists, who gheraoed him, when he was on his way to an official programme at D K Halli.
The State government would resolve the problem in an amicable manner, thereby mitigating the suffering of the general public, he added.
Moreover, the government is ready to meet all the demands putforth by the pourakarmikas.
However, inorder to regularise the daily wage workers, the process needs to be carried out in a legal framework.
Thereby, I request the pourakarmikas to give us some time to settle the whole issue, he observed.
Cleanliness
Also, the deputy commissioner has been instructed to maintain the basic cleanliness of the city and supply water to the general public.
Moreover, a task force committee comprising of town and city officers has been created, which is already engaged in providing immediate service to the public.
Regularising the services of the daily wage workers is not an easy task. There are nearly 6,000 daily wage workers in the State ranging from 8 years to middle aged and above. Moerover, there is no legal provision to regularise all of them at once, he added.
The State government is sympathetic towards the pourakarmikas. Thus, in today’s meeting a final decision will be taken and efforts will be directed towards putting an end to the strike, he observed.
The Congress activists submitted a memorandum to Alangur Srinivas and urged that all the demands of the pourakarmikas should be met.
