Heavy vehicle ban extended
The ban on movement of heavy vehicles on Shirady Ghat stretch of NH 48 has been extended till September 30. The Deputy Commissioner had earlier issued the order prohibiting the movement of loaded heavy vehicles like LPG, petroleum, granite tankers, mines and timber lorries in between June 22 to July 21. As the repair works of the Shirady Ghat stretch is yet to be completed, the ban has been extended, a release informed.
‘Complain about streetlights’
Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, who is also the administrator of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has asked the public to complain through to a 24-hour toll free number if any streetlights under MCC limits do not function properly. The toll free numbers are- 155313 and 2220344.
“The complaints will get immediate responses. If not, the public should inform the MCC Commissioner (2220310) or the DC/MCC administrator (2220588),” a release stated.
‘Paddana’ in Gamaka style
The fifth programme of the Tulu Dharma Samshodhana Kendra, based in Perooru was held at Angadimane in Perooru village in Udupi taluk on July 22, according to a release. The Kendra Director Perooru Jaru recited ‘Bobbarya Paddana’ in Gamaka style during the programme. The Kendra has planned to organise a total of 12 such programmes in its inaugural year. The next function will be held on August 26, the release added.
