Two militants were gunned down by security forces when they tried to storm a CRPF camp at Zakoora on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Thursday.
Four cops were injured in the incident. Giving details, spokesman of CRPF said the two ultras tried to carry out the suicidal attack on the camp and lobbed grenades and opened fire. “Both of them were killed before they could enter the camp,” he said.
IGP S M Sahai said the slain militants belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba.
However, no militant group has owned responsibility for the attack. The incident occurred at a time when security forces were on a high alert in Kashmir. Security agencies had specific information regarding militant plans to carry out a suicidal attack in Srinagar.
