The recent statement of a legal expert regarding Indian doctor Haneef, who was arrested and detained in Australia for supporting terrorism, did not come as a surprise to the doctor’s wife. “I was saying from the beginning that my husband is innocent. Now the legal experts too are saying this. Earlier no one paid heed to my statement,” said Firdaus Arshiya, while talking to Deccan Herald.
She was reacting to the comment made by a top legal expert of Australia Peter Faris, the former chairperson of the National Crime Authority. Faris had told a television channel during an interview that the case would collapse as latest as by Friday or on Monday.
Faris remark came in reaction to Australia’s chief prosecutor Damian Bugg’s decision to review evidence against Dr Haneef.
Firdaus said, she won’t react so quickly because she would wait till Monday. “It would be hurry to react on these things unless something really concrete comes out. It would be good to wait till Monday,” said Firdaus.
