Guru Prasad’s match-high 27 points went in vain as Kanaka, Kolar, went down 46-52 to Orions, Bangalore, in a Group ‘C’ encounter of the State ‘B’ division basketball league championship at the Sree Kanteerava stadium outdoor courts on Thursday.
In a closely fought contest, Orions went for the kill only in the third and fourth quarters after leading by the narrowest of margins at the halfway stage. Kanaka found their hero in Suhas who top-scored with 18 points. Deepak chipped in with 10 points.
Meanwhile, Bharath Sports Union scored a hard fought 59-42 win over Devanga Sports Union in another match. Ashok did the star turn for Bharath by scoring 22 points in the match. The winners led 29-18 at half-time.
