C/O Footpath directed by master Kishan S S, world’s youngest film director, has won him the Chamber of the Deputies award and the Children’s Right award at the ‘Giffoni International Film Festival’ held at Italy from July 14 to 21. The film screened on July 16, was the only Indian nomination at the festival which is also called as the ‘Children’s Oscar's’. Eleven year old Kishan bagged these awards having stiff competition from famous and experienced directors from across the globe.
Kishan’s hollywood dream was also realised in Italy when he met actor Roberto Benigni of the film ‘Life is Beautiful’ fame. Kishan has been offered a role in Benigni’s forthcoming film based on the novel ‘Kim’ by Rudyard Kipling, which would be shot in India and Bangladesh. Italian producer Aurelio De Laurentiis has also offered Kishan to direct a movie based on an Italian teenager. Kishan will have an opportunity to work with three other directors for this movie coming from America, Russia and Australia.
C/O footpath the movie which has brought Kishan these accolades, was released last year in Karnataka and ran for hundred days. The Tamil version ran for about fifty days in Chennai.
Now ready for release in Telugu, Malyalam and Hindi, itwas also screened at the Cyprus International Children’s Film festival and has won two state awards for the best film (jury award) and the best child actor award.
