The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will issue compensation to the victims of the Ejipura tragedy shortly.
BBMP sources said the quantum of compensation is being decided by the Commissioner and other officials.
“We would pay the amount to families of the deceased and get it released by the Government later,” sources added.
Lakshmi who was just one and a half year old, daughter of Mahendra and Sunita and Perumal (30), a relative of the couple, lost their lives when block two of the EWS quarters came crashing down on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, BBMP Deputy Commissioner (East) Nagaraj visited Ejipura on Friday to oversee relocation of residents from the housing blocks to temporary sheds being constructed at the EWS colony.
However, residents alleged that BBMP has been completely pathetic in constructing alternative accommodation for them.
“Work has been very slow. What shall we do if it rains again, leading to more housing blocks caving in. People cannot move into their old homes and new sheds are also not forthcoming,” said Babu from the colony.
