To provide a centralised search mechanism for unaccompanied children, children in difficult situations and people, who are searching for their children, a website on Missing Child Search (MCS) is being launched by the Department of Women and Child Welfare, on Saturday.
Anyone can report about a missing/found child on MCS website-www.missingchildsearch.net.
The data of missing children will be matched with that of the found ones by MCS. The success of the search depends not only on this data but also on the strength (the network organisations), extent (the reach of organisations across India), support system (the infrastructure and personnel) and the integrity (authenticity and dedication of each organisation in the network). To make it more effective, efficient and comprehensive in Karnataka, the Government has decided to support it through the Department of Women and Child Welfare.
Thus, MCS will be able to use the Government mechanism and data (each department’s records including Police) to search a child. A part of nationwide Homelink Network, it has found 190 missing children across India so far.
