Horticulture department officials and scientists visited various places in Koppa taluk to assess the gravity of ‘Kole roga’ affected by arecanut plantations. A team lead by Mudigere Agriculture Science Centre Scientist Chandrashekar, Horticulture College Jahir Ahammed, horticulture officials Ashok, Thotaiah visited Harandur, Binthravalli, Shanuvalli, Niluvagilu, Guddethota and conducted a survey on the kole roga affected trees.
The team gave information on the way to prepare bordo solution. They also collected information on ‘Haladi ele roga,’ ‘suliroga,’ ‘muruturoga,’ ‘soraguroga,’ and ‘beruhula.’
The officials informed that 13 tonne copper sulphates has been distributed among 1,850 growers at an concessional rate. Six tonne will be distributed in the future. They also assured to provide 15 days training in grafting to Haranduru Tejaswi Self-Help Group members.
