Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemical Limited (MRPL) has been awarded the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Award for Energy Performance of Refineries for the year 2006-07, by Centre of High Technology, Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
According to a press release, the award is given in recognition of the refinery’s annual energy performance. It is decided after all refineries are evaluated by an Awards Committee, for their Specific Energy Consumption, the release added.
MRPL Managing Director R Rajamani, a reduced energy index reflects not only optimum energy consumption but also reduced operational cost overheads. “Winning the award for the fourth time in a row is a telling statement on the continuous efforts by the Refinery personnel to excel in the energy management processes of MRPL,” he added.
