Mohammed Haneef’s family on Friday extended their gratitude to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmed, for their help to get back Mr Haneef from Australia.

Soon after the Australian police dropped terrorism charges against Haneef, one of Mr Haneef’s uncles Iqbal Siddiqui called Mr Ahmed and thanked him on behalf of the family members.

“Mr Siddiqui called me and thanked the Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister and myself for the help extended,” said Mr Ahmed.
