As an Australian who was born and raised in Australia, as were my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and great great grandparents I am sickened at the treatment of Dr Mohamed Haneef. I honestly believed that my country had the belief that a person is innocent until proven guilty. The Australian government has a lot to answer regarding Dr Haneef's arrest and his imprisonment.
I am not a religious person, do not follow any religion nor do I have any strong political belief with any party whatsoever. I have never been to a rally or marched for any cause but the treatment of Dr Haneef has made me realise that the everyday person, the average australian needs to stand up and speak out about what is happening here and the wrongs that are occurring. It is so wrong when an innocent man who has been in Australia working as a doctor, saving lives here, caring for our sick and injured is treated as a terrorist with NO evidence whatsoever to prove that this is so. I just hope that the people of India and especially Dr Haneef and his family do not hold it against the average Australian. We do NOT all believe and agree with the heads of government and the way they go about things.
I as an Australian say I am so very sorry that my country treated you DR HANEEF like you were.
