There are more unanswered questions in the Indo-US nuclear deal than what has been stated - it meets all concerns - by the external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee after the Cabinet meet. Unfortunately, the report 'US lawmakers warn Bush on N-deal' (July 27) indicates that the US is taking one step forward and two steps backwards making it as an undependable partner in progress. Concerns also expressed by the BJP in the ambiguity of the N-deal and may be by most of the S&T stalwarts.
Secondly, the PM will present the 123 agreement in the Parliament where most of the members are ignorant of the subject and all they know is only about India having 'atom bombs'. They are not aware of the intricacies of operating nuclear power plants. Besides, all the UPA/Leftists will nod their heads once Sonia taps the table!
The enlightened citizens expect that the intelligentsia in the Parliament must ensure that the 123 agreement will be unambiguous and will address all the expectations of our nuclear barons in fulfilling the energy needs. One must also be assured of that the US will not tilt its scale towards Pak's demands at par with India!
