BEML, Mysore posted an excellent comeback win to edge Kanaka, Kolara 76-73 and enter the quarterfinals of the State ‘B’ Division basketball league at the Sree Kanteerava outdoor courts here on Friday.
Trailing by a whopping 15 points at the halfway stage in the Group C encounter, BEML found their saviour in Ramakanth who scored 16 points to emerge the top scorer. Jayanth chipped in with 11 points. Kanaka, Kolar had only themselves to blame after frittering a 41-26 lead at the half time. Ramakrishna stood tall amidst Kanaka ruins to score a match high 26 points, but his efforts went in vain.
Also entering the last eight phase are SBI and Young Orions. SBI got past SAI Dharwad 58-40 in a Group A encounter, while Young Orions beat K S Hegde, Mangalore 62-46 in a Group D match.
