Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar, on Friday, said that 206 people died because of heavy rains during April-June in the State.
In his reply to the debate on rain havoc in the Council, the minister said that the total loss due to heavy rains was Rs 406.42 crore.

In the rains, 46,647 houses collapsed, 7,979 km road damaged and 3,361 check dams were affected.
Agriculture crops in 25,571 hectare and horticulture crops in 13,286 hectare were washed away, the minister added.
He said that the Centre had sent a committee to assess loss due to rains in the State. The Centre would release funds on the basis of the report to be submitted by the study committee.
SDMA
Leader of the Opposition H K Patil took the State Government to task for not setting up the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) as per the directions of the Central government.
He also said that the Central government might not consider State’s demand for relief package as the SDMA had not been set up.
Mr Shettar said that the State Government was making all efforts to set up the authority.
However, not satisfied with the minister’s response members of the Congress party staged a walkout.
