BJP MLC Aravind Limbavali, on Friday demanded that the vice chancellor of Bijapur Women’s University should be sacked from her position, considering that corruption charges were levelled against her.
Seeking clarification on the reply to his question addressed to the Higher Education minister on vice chancellors who are facing corruption charges in the Legislative Council, Mr Limbavali said that Vice Chancellor Dr Syeda Akthar held the syndicate meeting though she had clear instructions from the Higher Education department not to do so. She should be either sacked from the post or sent on compulsory leave, he demanded.
The Justice N R Venkateshamurthy inquiry committee has already reported that allegations made against her are true. Even then, what was the need to constitute Justice M P Chinnappa committee to look into same allegations, he questioned.
Impossible
Higher Education minister D H Shankaramurthy in his reply said that as it was technically impossible for the State Government to take action against the vice chancellor on the grounds of Justice Venkateshamurthy committee, the Government constituted the new committee, following directions from the governor.
