Family sources said that they were a bit puzzled about how to welcome Haneef. “Certainly we will give him a grand welcome but we haven’t planned completely. We are more eager to see him react on seeing his new-born,” said Firdaus’ sister.
She said that biryani and chicken, which are Haneef’s favourite dishes, would be the exclusive preparations for Sunday’s grand celebration at his in-laws’ place.
The family also has plans for Peter Russo, who is arriving with Haneef. “Like a good samaritan, he extended legal support to Haneef and finally ensured his return to the country unstained,” said a family member. However, there wasn’t much activity at Haneef’s Frazer Town residence, where his brother Shoaib, mother and sister are living. It was as quiet as it was after July 4, when Haneef was caught in the terror case.
