A 17-year-old construction labourer died when he accidentally fell from the sixth floor of a building in Koramangala on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Rajashekhar, a resident of Ejipura.
According to sources, works to install a pipe to facilitate rain water to pass through were on in a multi-storey building on 80 feet road in Koramangala from Saturday afternoon. Rajashekhar was holding the pipe standing on the sixth floor.
Suddenly, he lost balance and fell down and sustained severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to St John’s Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.
Rajashekhar was staying with his father in a hut near Yellamma Temple in Ejipura. His father, Selvam, a coconut merchant, is a native of Pinnelwadi village in Pondicherry district in Tamil Nadu. He came to Bangalore only last year and was working as a construction labourer.
Rajashekhar and his father went to their native 15 days back to perform some rituals. Selvam asked Rajashekhar to stay back for another week. But he decided to return to Bangalore last week when tragedy struck. Selvam told Deccan Herald that the building contractor had promised him to give Rs 20,000 as compensation.
