"Withdrawal of the circular on Bane land and ownership rights on trees has taught an apt lesson to the pretentious and fake environmental activists,” said MLA K G Boppaiah.
Addressing a news conference on Sunday, Mr Boppaiah said that the withdrawal of the circular has been a historical incident as people came together to fight for this cause brushing aside their caste, creed and political parties. He said that from the past 15 days people have been struggling for the same in Bangalore too under one Forum, pressurising the government, which too has added to the success.
“Unity has the strength to turn any difficult task into a reality and to this our victory is the testimony. I
congratulate and thank all the former ministers, association and entire citizens of Kodagu who toiled for this,” he added and called upon the citizens to keep this unity intact. He said that politics is different. The politicians of the region have come together forgetting all politics during this period of protest and this unity must continue.
He said that Jana Jagruti meets will be held across the district on the same and accordingly a meet will be held at Virajpete on August 5, at Madikeri on August 6 and Somwarpete on August 7.
Madikeri Kodava Samaja president Suresh Chengappa, Madikeri Gowda Samaja President Paikeri Anantharam were present.
