Even after 12 days of the pourakarmikas’ strike in the district, the mere silence of the elected representatives has proved their inefficiency.
In these 12 days of crisis in the city, the representatives have remained static, aloof from the situation, proving their ignorance towards the problems of the public.
The city was in a very apalling condition since the workers had stopped supply of water in the town, with regard to the indefinite strike. However, question arises as to what the representatives of the people were busy with other than catering to the problems of the public. The joint efforts of the youth was remarkable in this regard.
Hence the residents of Gandhinagar (Ward no. 1), Kote area, and Jayanagar could combat the situation with less difficulty.
In Kote area, CMC former member Channaveeraiah, Rajesh in Gandhinagar and Murali Gowda in Jayanagar who put in their sincere efforts to supply water became heroes in the eyes of the public. If the same sincerity, and concern was expressed by the members of other wards, the situation would never have worsened.
The task force which was formed in order to supply water and maintain cleanliness in the town comprising of officials from various departments, failed to do so.
Though efforts were made by CMC Commissioner and assistant executive engineer to combat the situation, due to lack of staff, they failed. The most upsetting situation was the absence of organisations during the public meeting which was called to discuss the problems.
Even worse was the ‘no response’ kind of a situation from the public themselves! However the public has questioned the silence of the elected representatives, during such times of crisis.
