Marriott International, on Monday, announced construction of its new 328-room star hotel at IBC Knowledge Park on Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore.
The group also announced construction of several hotels across the country which would take its total number of properties to 21 hotels representing six brands, totalling 5,524 rooms in the country. The Bangalore Renaissance Hotel will include multi-phased office complex. The hotel is owned by New India Hotels Private Ltd. This will be the third Marriott property in Bangalore — the first, 250-room JW Marriott Hotel, will be ready by 2008. Another 250-room hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, will open in 2010.
Triple room numbers
Noting that the it will triple the number of rooms by 2010, the Marriott announced that new ventures would include three JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts properties and one Ritz-Carlton hotel in luxury tier, one Marriott Hotels & Resorts hotel and one Renaissance Hotels & Resorts property in the upscale, deluxe category, One Marriott Executive Apartments property for extended-stay travelers and eight Courtyards by Marriott hotels in upper-moderate segment. These would come up at Chennai, Gurgaon, Pune, Ahmedabad.
They join nine previously-announced properties that are soon to start, or are currently under construction in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida and Pune.
All hotels will operate under long-term management contracts. Currently, the company’s portfolio in India consists of six hotels, five brands and 1,534 rooms.
