A 12 day composite training camp for NCC cadets of junior and senior wings began at the Medical Officers and Health Staff Training Centre here on Monday. In all 650 cadets including 217 girl cadets from Gulbarga and Bidar districts are participating in the camp.
They include 226 senior and 207 junior boys, and 111 senior and 106 junior wing girl cadets.
Inaugurating the camp MLC Shashil Namoshi called upon the cadets to inculcate the leadership qualities.
He underlined the need for observing discipline, punctuality and good health for success in life. Namoshi also urged the government to make NCC training compulsory for all students.
Camp Commandent Col D R Sharma said the camp training was compulsory for NCC cadets to appear for NCC A, B, and C certificate examinations.
He also explained to the cadets the significance of these certificates as the cadets passing these examinations will enjoy reservation in admission to professional colleges and also in employment.
Sena Camp
Training will also be provided to cadets so that they can be selected for the Thal Sena Camp and Republic Day Parade camp both to be held at Delhi. Besides, Col Sharma said training will also be given to cadets in military subjects such as weapon training, map reading, firing and drill.
Fourteen NCC officers are also participating in the camp to provide necessary training to the cadets. Captain S G Kallur, Capt S S Hatti and NCC officers S G Patil, Rawur and Subedar major Vasant Dede were present at the inauguration of the camp.
