Active Virus Shield
AOL's anti-virus software Active Virus Shield, powered by Kaspersky Lab, combines a real time scanner for ongoing protection. An automatic update feature Always-on allows users to set and forget the mechanics of keeping the anti-virus database current. The application automatically checks for updates, usually 10 Kbs or less, every hour, to provide real-time scanning and protection against virus threats. This makes it easy for anyone to maintain up-to-the-minute anti-virus protection. Among the other features are : Advanced detection technology to help stop known and new viruses, spyware and other malware; Real-Time File Protection, serves as a watch-dog, continuously monitoring and helping to protect files; Active Virus Shield can also scan faster by scanning only new and changed files; Email Protection: Support for most e-mail clients (e.g POP3, IMAP or NNTP) to scan incoming email and SMTP protocol to scan outgoing mail. For popular mail programs, like Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express, plug-ins and routines for treatment of viruses in email databases are also available; Runs without slowing down computer: Active Virus Shield utilises sophisticated technology to optimally share processing power with other applications, allowing users to continue other tasks while scanning for viruses with little impact on the speed of their computer; Optimised For Laptops: Active Virus Shield offers a number of advantages for users of laptops based on Intel Centrino mobile technology. Universal Uploader, a Firefox extension, is a single desktop upload tool for YouTube, Flickr, Picasa and more. It lets you upload and also download videos, pictures, documents and other files to the above websites from a common interface. Getting started is simple - click the dropbox icon in the Firefox status bar, select one of service where you wish to upload the file(s) and then drag-n-drop the pictures or videos - you content will be on its way.
The Universal Uploader is like a two-way FTP client for YouTube, Flickr and other sites - you can browse stuff that's already available in your account or upload new media file. You can add multiple files to the queue at a time. Extension will take care of uploading them for you. In case of Flickr and Picasaweb, you'll have to authorize the service before uploading pictures the first time. This is the free version of ZuluPad, a place to jot down class notes, appointments, to-do lists, favorite websites, etc. As ZuluPad combines the best parts of a notepad with the best parts of a wiki it has been called a personal wiki or a desktop wiki. Cross-referencing data is very simple. With the text you've just entered, highlight a word or phrase, click the Link button (or press Control-L) and you'll be presented with a new page, with a title of the word or phrase previously selected. You can now see a list of these pages in a drop-down list at the top of the page allowing you to easily navigate through them.
Each time you enter a word you have previously created a link for, it is automatically linked to the created page for you. For instance, imagine that you're a salesman with 100+ clients. You recognize them all when you see them, but it's hard to keep their names straight. You've jotted down an appointment to meet with John Smith in ZuluPad, and "John Smith" is immediately highlighted. You click the link, and you're reminded that John hates fish, loves golf, tends to annoy you, but always orders a lot! The 1.6 MB ZuluPad for Windows ME - 2003 can be downloaded at http://www.gersic.com/zulupad/ZuluPad.zip. The original ZuluPad is opensource under the GPL. Extension changer
