The Provident Fund office in Mangalore has attached the Syndicate bank account of Mescom after the latter failed to assess the PF accounts of the employees engaged through contractors of Mescom. According to highly placed sources, the outstanding amount to be assessed was Rs 4.5 crore.

Meanwhile, the Mescom paid a sum of Rs 1.25 crore on Tuesday and assured to pay the balance amount within three months.

“As soon as the Mescom pays the balance amount, the attachment will be lifted,” sources said and added that the order of assessment was issued under Section 7(A) of the Provident Fund Act.
