Reliance Communications and Cisco on Wednesday joined hands to provide business internet services for small and medium enterprises in Bangalore. The Reliance business internet services package consists of hi-speed broadband access, anti-virus suite, business e-mail package, domain name service providing integrated network and resource sharing for the LAN (Local Area Netowork) and WAN (Wide Area Network).
Speaking at the launch, Prakash Bajpai, President & CEO Enterprise, Reliance Communications said, “This is the first time that a solution catered to specific needs of SMBs have been launched. With about 7 million SMBs in India we have a huge opportunity.”
The customers will have to only pay the monthly expenses, avoiding even the entry cost. “The monthly prices can range between Rs 1,100 to Rs 2 lakh as per the customer requirement,” he added.
Pramodh Menon, Senior Vice President, Commercial, Cisco India & SAARC said, “Customers will get wireless broadband service using Cisco’s integrated routers.” Mr Menon further informed that the connection will be through services such as WiMax, routers or Reliance broadband network connectivity as per customers requirement.
Infrastructure needs
Commenting on the set-up of infrastructure Mr Bajpai said, “We already have the optical fibre backbone with about 350 towers in place. Installing the additional equipment is not an issue.” Plans are on to make the service up and running for customers in about 24 hrs, he informed.
