HC issues notice to Mysore varsity
Mysore, DHNS:

: The Karnataka High Court has directed the Mysore university to issue an emergency notice, in the light of the application filed by Dr Vishwanath to cancel the notification issued regarding the appointment of professors, readers and lecturers on April 19.

“According to the notification, the Mysore  university has violated the reservation act in the appointment procedures under article 16 (4) of the constitution. It has also violated the norms laid down by the UGC and universities act. In this background the notification should be cancelled,” Vishwanath had urged in his application to the High Court.

The applicant had also urged the High Court to grant a stay order for the appointment process.
The notification is against the order of the Karnataka government passed on February 22, 1994 under article 16 (4) of the constitution, in appointment of readers and professors in unverisities and hence it should be cancelled, he has urged.

However, it is learnt that the Mysore University had filed a caveat and hence the stay order was not granted.
In the light of the application, the High Court however, has asked the university to issue emergency notice  to give the details within four weeks.
