HC stays action against Jalappa
Bangalore, DHNS:

The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday stayed the operation of Advocate General’s sanction for initiating contempt proceedings against MP R L Jalappa till July 9.
Mr Jalappa had challenged Advocate General (AG) Uday Holla’s order dated June 14 which had accorded consent for initiating contempt proceedings under Section 15(1)(b) of Contempt of Courts Act, 1971. The AG accorded consent while allowing an application by Doordarshan Director Dr Mahesh Joshi, who had sought permission to initiate contempt proceedings against Mr Jalappa. Dr Joshi had accused Jalappa of making derogatory statements against Karnataka High Court judges.
Live bands’ plea
The High Court ordered notices to State government and Police Commissioner on two City restaurants’ petition against rejection of their applications for live band licence.
Petitioners, Cave Caterers Ltd, located near Pallavi theatre, and Four Friends Enterprises, Lalbagh Road, said they were running live bands in their restaurants for years, until police issued the 2005 Licensing Order on Live Bands.
