Efforts on to search missing person
Mangalore/Karkal, DHNS:
The search is on for Umavathi (50) who went missing when the bus in which she and 9 others from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi were travelling, plunged into a gorge at Uttarkashi on Wednesday.

Ms Umavathi had taken voluntary retirement from Punjab National Bank some time ago and was the treasurer of Sharada Mahila Mandali in Karkal. “There was no trace of her till Friday night. However, efforts are on to search Umavathi,” MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik told Deccan Herald over phone from Haridwar.

Last rites performed
The last rites of Manoj Prabhu and Jayalakshmi Kamath (55) was performed at Haridwar on Friday. The family members of the deceased were present.

However, the body of another person, Mahesh Shetty (56) will be brought to Karkal.

“The body is expected to reach Karkal by 2 pm,” Capt Karnik said and added that it was airlifted from Delhi on Friday and will reach Nakre in Karkal via Mumbai.

Mr Shetty was into real estate business in Udupi.

Meanwhile, all the six persons who suffered injuries have been recovering and they along with 46 others who had gone on pilgrimage reached Haridwar on Friday night. The entire troupe is expected to leave Haridwar for Mangalore on Saturday, informed Capt Karnik.

The 56 member team from Jeevandhara Yoga Sangam had gone on a pilgrimage on June 17.
