Encroached land recovered
Bangalore Development Authority on Thursday recovered encroached properties worth Rs 7.57 crore in J P Nagar 8th Phase 2nd Block.
Around 34,122 sq ft of land in sy no 25/2A of Kothnur Village that was unauthorisedly occupied, has been retrieved and fenced.
Water adalat  today
BWSSB will hold a water adalat of East-1 sub division on Friday from 9. 30 am to 11 am in the office of the Assistant Executive Engineer of East-1 sub division at Frazer Town.
The Executive Engineer of East Division will conduct this adalat. Disputes of customers coming under the jurisdiction of Kasturi Nagar, OMBR Layout, HRBR Layout, HBR Layout and Lingarajapuram limits will be heard and settled in this adalat.

Distribution of directory today
The BSNL, Bangalore Telecom District is distributing the new Bangalore telephone directory through mobile distribution at the following locations on Friday, July 6 between 9 am and 4 pm.
The directory is distributed free.
Malleswaram Railway Station, Prakash Nagar (Near Ayyappa Temple), Halasuru Jogpalya Kalyan Mantap, Tannery Road (Near Arabic College), Church Street, Kamakshiplaya (Near Bus Stand).
Quota in judiciary sought
Demanding reservation in the judiciary for backward classes, including SC/STs, advocate and social activist Ravi Verma Kumar called for establishing the national commission for appointment of judges. Speaking at a seminar on ‘Reservation in Judiciary’, Kumar said the government must amend the Constitution to introduce reservation in the sector. “There is no settled yardstick for appointment of judges, while the legislature and executive have rules. Judiciary has time and again come in the way of reservation, though the Parliament has favoured its introduction”.
BBMP inspects high-rises
BBMP Commissioner Dr S Subramanya has asked joint commissioners of newly added zones to ensure that new buildings coming up in their limits set up rain water harvesting and solar systems. He gave this direction after inspecting multi-sto-rey commercial and reside-ntial complexes coming up in Bommanahalli zone. He directed joint commissioners to insist that the public set up rain water harvesting systems.
