The road between Raichur and Gulbarga was cut off on Thursday as the Krishna overflowed the Huvinahedgi bridge near Devadurg in the district.
Devadurg Tahsildar T L Nayak had warned people not to venture near the bridge, or the river, and has banned the movement of vehicles over the bridge.
As the authorities started to release excess water from the Narayanpur reservoir in the district on Wednesday, the Krishna started to overflow the Huvinahedgi bridge from Thursday afternoon, which is downstream the Narayanpur dam.
Due to the submerging of this road, people would now have to take a circuitous route of more than 70 kilometers to reach Gulbarga. Moreover, the overflowing Krishna water has also entered the fields many places.
