Applications invited
Applications have been invited from SC/ST students for admission to post metric hostels run by the Social Welfare Department in Shahapur taluk. Send applications  before July 10 to the office of the taluk social welfare officer.
Quiz for high school students
The District Science Centre will be organising a district level school science quiz for the students studying in 8th to 10th standard. The contest will have preliminary (written), quarter final, semi-final and final. Inauguration of the contest and preliminary rounds will be held on July 26 at 10.30 am. District Science Officer B.R.Vishvanath has asked interested students to register their names at the science centre on or before July 24.

Anniversary planned
The Dalit Jana Jagruta  Sangharsha Samithi has decided to observe 21st death anniversary of celebrated Dalit leader and former deputy prime minister Babu Jagjivan Ram by planting 100 saplings to counter the growing environmental pollution in Gulbarga city. Samithi state convener Rukkappa Kamble said  the saplings will be planted  at Borabai Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Vijayanagar, Basavanagar which are slum areas. A programme will be held at the government primary school at Borabai Nagar.
Cash awards for dalit students
Applications have been invited from SC/ST students who have passed in first class in first attempt in SSLC. degree, post graduate, BE, MBBS in Jewargi taluk for the year 2007-08. Eligible candidates have been asked to send in their applications before July 25 to the office of the Jewargi Taluk Social Welfare Officer.
