A waiting room titled ‘Nemmadi’ will be constructed by the Rotary Club at the new bus stand in Shimoga City, informed newly elected Rotary Club President Dr Usha Prabhu.
Addressing a press conference in the City, she said that as a new bus stand is under construction in the City, Rotary Club will gift a well furnished waiting room comprising a bathroom, toilet, cloakroom and other facilities.
To mark the golden jubilee of Rotary organisation, a 200-seater auditorium will be built at Yuva Kendra on Savalanga Road and a park will be developed in the premises.
Rotary Club will also donate computers, books, drinking water connections and furniture to education institutions in the City, she disclosed.
It will accord priority for upgrading health services and infrastructure in government schools in rural areas, Dr Usha stated.
She informed that the installation ceremony for the year 2007-08 will be held at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan on July 6 evening, in which Rotary Governor S K Nagendran will take part.
Stating the plans of Inner Wheel Club for 2007-08, newly elected President Yashoda Gowler informed that a workshop on legal awareness and women empowerment will be held. Vocational training will be provided for unemployed women.
Trekking camps and art appreciation programmes have also been planned, she added.
