Activists of Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Wednesday staged a dharna in front of deputy commissioner’s office in Chitradurga protesting against the hike in bus pass fare.
They contended that poor students would be badly hit by the fare hike. The fare had come at a time when students were overburdened with highfee and donation. Hitherto, the government had fixed the fare for annual bus pass at Rs 750 and now it was hiked to Rs 1,140. The government should revoke its order immediately in the interest of student community.
Earlier, they took out a procession, which started from the Government PU college and culminated at the DC office where they submitted a memorandum.
