The Artistes Unlimited (AU’s), as a part of its En Route tour, is performing in Bangalore at Christ College on July 6 and 7. The tour not only marks the release of AU’s debut album En Route featuring 46 musicians, but also the beginning of India's first youth led AIDS Awareness concert series.
Drawing from the musical experience of 46 musicians, the album showcases 12 original AU compositions, exploring a vast soundscape of jazz, rock, folk, Indian classical, pop, R&B, hip-hop, blues and Indian contemporary music with AU's signature emphasis on vocal arrangements.
AU is a platform for the promotion of the performing arts with music at its core and has featured over 200 artistes since its inception in 2003 ranging from an 88 strong vocal ensemble (SoulScape - 2003), an original AU musical (En Route - 2005) to a three-day AU music festival featuring Shubha Mudgal, Parikrama and Them Clones (Odyssey - 2004).
Proceeds from the sale of their music CDs in Bangalore will go to The Naz Foundation (India) Trust which is a Delhi-based NGO working on HIV/AIDS and sexual health since 1994.
They work towards preventing the spread of HIV and engage in advocacy, care and support. The organisation also aims to sensitise the community to the prevalence of HIV as well as highlight issues related to sexuality and sexual health.
The concert in Christ College will be divided into three shows spanning two days — 10:30 am and 7:30 pm on July 6 and again at 7:30 pm on July 7. Free passes are available at Christ College. For details call: 9886442442.
