Actor-director Kashinath has roped in two heroines from other states for his forthcoming film Appachchi.
One is Arpitha, a Malayalam belle, who is doing her final year of dance and drama course. Another one is Julie from Rajasthan who has acted in a few Rajasthani movies.
“Both of them have done a good job. After watching the film one can’t make out that it is their first film. They know a little bit of Kannada too”, Kashinath said of his heroines.
Later, it was time for his shishyas to complete formalities of the film. Director Sunil Kumar Desai clapped the last shot. The first shot was clapped by Upendra. Music director V Manohar released the music of the film recently.
Understandably, Kashinath was proud of his wards. “I am proud that they are all big names today and wish them a better future. I never seek anything from them. It is out of respect for me that are here today on my request”, Kashinath said.
Both Manohar and Desai turned nostalgic and remembered how they learnt the ABCD of film-making from Kashinath. “I lived in Kashinath’s house. I learnt everything from publicity design to direction. Those days we used to use the slides. He has fed us for many months. All that I achieved I owe it to him ”, Manohar said.
“Twenty-four years ago, I was impressed with Kashinath when I watched Aparichitha. When I came to Bangalore I was in his house for two years. I was involved in everything in the making of Anubhava. I was trained in all departments of the film. It was a great experience”, Desai remembered.
Velu of Lahari audio company said local singers should be given preference.“Today, film-makers are paying huge amounts to get Hindi singers for singing in Kannada films.
Why can’t they look at the local talents?”, he asked. He also remembered his old association with Kashinath adding that the music of Avale Nanna Hendthi and Avane Nanna Ganda were superhits.
Producer Krishna said the film would be released in August. Anamika has scored music for Appachchi.
