Opposing the common entrance test (CET) being held for admissions to different courses in the conventional universities in the State, the Akhila Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishat (ABVP) on Friday warned that it would be holding agitations if the government went ahead with the CET.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, ABVP State Secretary Prabhudeva Kapagal stated that agitation would be held in three stages against the government's move to hold CET for admissions to the post-graduate courses.
He stated that while on July 10, protests would be held at all the district headquarters in the State, on July 13, rasta roko agitations would be held.
In the third phase, a call would be given to close all the colleges in the State in protest. “This date would be announced later,” he added.
Mr Kapgal pointed out that very idea of holding the CET for university admissions was ill conceived. He said, as 70 per cent had been earmarked as the minimum marks for a student to be eligible to appear for the CET, rural student would not be able to take the CET as their degree marks would invariably be low when compared with their urban counterparts.
