Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday declared that Karwar, Haliyal and Joida taluks of Uttara Kannada district were integral part of Karnataka and there was no question of acceding an inch of Karnataka to any other state.
Talking to news persons here before participating in various programmes here, he dismissed the demand by Goa Konkani State Unification Forum’s demand for merger of three taluks of UK district as “rubbish” and said nobody should take it seriously.
“Hardly three or four persons are demanding this and it should not be given prominence at all,” he said.
Asked about Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar’s warning to states that funds would not be released if they failed to amend the APMC Act, the CM said the the State Cabinet would soon discuss the amendment to APMC Act and then place it before the ongoing joint session of the State Legislature.
Replying to a query whether Janata Dal (Secular) would support Congress’s nominee for President’s poll, Mr Kumaraswamy said JD(S) President H D Deve Gowda was seized of the matter and nobody would interfere in it. Mr Gowda would soon take a decision in this regard.
About former minister Mr D K Shivakumar’s allegation about Satanur Assembly Constituency, the CM categorically stated that Deve Gowda had absolutely no role in it since it was the decision of the committee re-organising the constituencies.
Mr Gowda was just a member and never pressurised the committee.
