Dates for entrance  tests announced
Shimoga, DHNS: Mysore University has announced dates for entrance tests for various post graduation courses. On July 20, entrance test for biochemistry, political science, biotechnology and commerce courses will be held. On July 21 entrance test for microbiology, physics, economics, chemistry and history courses will be held. Entrance test for sociology and education streams will be held on July 22.
Candidates are asked to avail admission cards on July 16 and 17 from the university’s registrar.

Police raid matka den, 2 held
Haveri, DHNS: Police raided a matka den in Ranebennur and arrested a person named Basavaraj Halappa Bellad and Virupakshappa Kotrappa Pattanshetty. Rupees 446 cash was seized from them. Ten persons were held in Kaginele village of the district while gambling. Cash worth Rs 1,271, three watches and a mobile phone were seized.
Janaspandana meet today
Gulbarga, DHNS:  Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey is holding a public grievances meeting  on food security schemes like public distribution system, food for work, midday meal scheme, Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) on Saturday, at the Zilla Panchayat Meeting Hall, Gulbarga, at 11 am. The public have been asked to bring their grievances to the meeting to get them redressed. Concerns of the public would addressed at the meeting.
BSNL’s open house session
Gulbarga, DHNS: Gulbarga Telecom District of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is holding  open house sessions on July 7, Saturday at 11 am at three places. They are: Telephone Exchange, Chittapur; Telephone Exchange near Aaiwan-e-Shahi, Gulbarga; Customer Service Centre, Main Road, Jewargi. 
Cash awards for Dalit students
Gulbarga, DHNS: Applications have been invited from SC/ST students who have passed in first class in first attempt in SSLC, degree, post graduate, BE, MBBS in Jewargi taluk for the year 2007-08, for cash awards. Candidates can send in applications along with attested marks cards, caste certificate and income certificate before July 25 to the office of the Jewargi Taluk Social Welfare Officer.
