Prevent brain drain to save our image
Sir, The failed terror attacks,in Glasgow, and the Indian link to the whole story, have poured questions to which answers are not easy to come by.
The three main culprits are well educated, two are doctors and one an engineer, from colleges in Karnataka. The engineer had even secured 5th rank to the university in his final exams. But,that these “educated” men used fuel-air bomb, and a medical syringe, to trigger the explosives, through mobile telephones, and failed miserably, unflinchingly points out that they were novices who were trained hurriedly and inducted in haste by the Al-qaeda.
Now,why will Al-qaeda,a professional terrorist agency to the core, employ amateurs? Were they trying to scare the people without slaughtering them?
Our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reportedly held a talk with his British counterpart on the issue.
Will our leaders try to prevent these kinds of brain drain to restrict India’s image being sullied overseas? If our houses are thatched, there is no use in trying to cement others houses. When will this reality dawn upon our leaders?

More scrutiny awaited
Sir, I am deeply saddened by the heinous acts carried out by the doctor-couple of Trichy as well as the suspected terrorist-doctors of Asian origin in Glasgow. In both cases doctors, who supposed to be life givers have turned life takers and thereby brought disgrace to a most revered profession of our times. The infamous incident occurred in Glasgow has shattered the dreams of Asians particularly young Indians who wish to go overseas to pursue their studies. Britain and other European countries will definitely look into the minute details of immigrant laws in the days to come.

We feel pity
Sir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says, “Don’t target any community.”(DH, July 6). Dr Singh doesn’t reckon with the reality that communities after all target themselves. For some time now, Dr Singh has appeared like a zombie or is it his senility resulting from a long spell of kowtowing to Sonia Gandhi’s wishes? A pity indeed, that India’s PM should be reduced to such a state.

Action needed
Sir, Educated Indian youth subscribing to Al-Qaeda are traitors. Reports of ISI’s camps in the NE, infiltration of refugees from Bangladesh, unchecked , unlawful activities, limp leadership, etc., should be treated as grave crises and urge the Government to act decisively.

The inept UPA
Sir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh maintains that Indians cannot be blamed for Glasgow blasts. But we must bear collective blame for terrorist activities just as we pride ourselves in Indian achievements. UPA’s laxity in defeating the home grown terrorists has resulted in Islamic terrorist cells mushrooming all over the country.

Laudable efficiency
Sir, The efficacy of the Australian authorities in attending to the detained suspects of the failed bomb attacks is laudable. They exemplified the prevention of violation of human rights and miscarriage of justice. On the contrary, the corrupt Maharashtra government let down the suffering victims after the devastating 7/11 train blasts. The relatives ran from pillar to post looking for their dear ones.
