India's fielding coach Robin Singh rated the practice game against Sussex, beginning on Saturday important as it gave the team management an opportunity to monitor the players.
"The practice game, not only this one, but the next one at Chelmsford as well, is important from the team's point of view. It gives us a chance to watch all the players before the Test matches. We are preparing as well as we can for this tour and these two games are a good chance for us to make the polishing. Hopefully, the weather will stay clear," Robin said here on Friday.
The Test reinforcements -- Anil Kumble, V V S Laxman and Wasim Jaffer -- had joined the squad on Wednesday, and Robin said the trio would not feel the lack of cricket in recent days as they were an experienced lot.
"Anil, Laxman and Jaffer are experienced players and they have experience in playing in these conditions, so that should not be a problem for them. They are as keen as others to go out and do well in the coming matches," he added.
Robin said there were no injury worries in the team and “all are raring to go." The former India all-rounder said the team has been working really hard on all aspects of fielding. "We are really working it out at the nets and the effort is showing gradually on the field. I am satisfied with the progress the guys have made in their fielding skills," he said.
