The district police should organise civic committee meetings every month. Crime should be kept under control. Police vigilance should be heightened. Dalit Day should be observed every month. Law and order must be maintained in the district suggested Inspector General of Police , Central Range T G Doreswamy Naik here on Saturday.
He was addressing a meeting of the police officials of the district at the office of the district SP, Kolar.
Every police station limit should form a civic committee in which representatives from women, Dalit and also all categories should be included.
The monthly meetings should be held in which the assistant SP will chair. All sub-inspectors, circle inspectors and Dy SPs should compulsorily attend the meeting. Holding such meetings will facilitate cordial relationship with the public, he said.
The last Saturday of each month should be celebrated as Dalit Day. Not only Dalits but also people from all communities should be involved in the activities of the committee. This will reduce tension between communities, he said.
At least signature of at least ten persons from each category must be obtained while holding meetings in villages. Stringent action should be taken against bootlegging and gambling, he said.
